Science - Calm Studio
The Biological Capital Initiative

Physiological science and business science
have developed in parallel
for a century.
We are working on the premise
that they describe the same system.

The BCI is a research programme investigating the biological cost of operating at scale, the extraction of human physiology by institutional systems, and the instruments needed to make biological capital visible and measurable.

Biological Business
Design

The person and the business treated as one system. Because they are. The biological state of the person running the business shapes every layer above it. This is the model that makes that relationship visible and workable.

The model applies to an individual navigating complexity and to an organisation operating at scale. The pattern is the same at every level.

Biology
The containing field. Your capacity, your clarity, your baseline. Everything above it is shaped by what happens here first.
Decisions
Every call you make, in every room, every day. Quality set entirely by the biological state underneath it.
Strategy
Where you choose to play. How you choose to win. Built on the decisions above it and the biology beneath them.
Execution
How consistently you show up. The daily expression of a system working with you or against you.
Outcomes
What the work produces. In the business and in life. The visible result of everything upstream.
BIOLOGY Yours. DECISIONS STRATEGY EXECUTION OUTCOMES team org Life is Biology. Business is Biology.
The Physics of the Karta

A conceptual model for biological stability under operational load

The Karta is the structural load-bearer of a system. The one who carries the complexity. In physics, stress is force divided by area. Increase the force without widening the area and the structure fails. The SSA model translates that physical intuition into a measurable biological equation.

The physics here is conceptual framing, not a scientific extension of the published SSA model. The SSA model is its own instrument. The physics is the analogy that made it legible.

S = (RC x C) / (L + E)
S
Stability
The overall biological stability of the system under current conditions.
RC
Recovery Capacity
The system's ability to return to baseline after load. The most underdeveloped variable in most operators.
C
Coherence
The degree of alignment between biological, cognitive, and behavioural systems. Coherence amplifies recovery.
L
Load
The total demand placed on the biological system. Operational, relational, cognitive, environmental.
E
Entropy
Accumulated biological disorder. What load leaves behind when recovery does not keep pace.
Psychometric
FSP-40
A 40-item psychometric instrument across six subscales measuring biological load in founders and senior operators. Cognitive Load, Execution Avoidance, Emotional Suppression, Autonomic Reactivity, Chronic Burnout, Existential Tension. Pilot study n=17 published on OSF.

Clinical Diagnostic
Lyfas
Non-invasive biosignal assessment platform. 95+ biomarkers from a 3-minute fingertip scan across 8 body systems. Developed by Acculi Labs, Bengaluru. Patent No. 440353. ISO 13485:2016 certified. IIT Madras HTIC incubated. Used in Medanta clinical studies.

Business Design
Unbox
A proprietary business design instrument for collaborative problem solving. Challenge framing, structural examination, leverage design, experiment architecture. The methodology paper is currently in development under the BCI.

The research programme

The BCI investigates five areas: the biological cost of scale as an undisclosed enterprise liability, the extraction of human physiology by institutional systems, the silent default mechanism in founders and operators, biological capital as a measurable and reportable asset class, and the instruments needed to make it visible.

We publish our work on the Open Science Framework. Open access.

The BCI sits at the intersection of organisational behaviour, physiological science, and business design. Every paper, instrument, and application in the stack corresponds to a layer of the BBD model. The research programme builds out from the theoretical framework toward measurable, applicable instruments.

Structural Stability Architecture
A governing equation for biological stability under operational load. S = (RC x C) / (L + E). Version 1.1, first-order linear.
Stress Literacy White Paper
A framework for reading biological state under pressure as a measurable leadership and decision-making capacity.
Founder Stress Profile, Tool Paper
The FSP-40 psychometric instrument. Forty items across six subscales measuring biological load in founders and senior operators.
Founder Stress Profile, Pilot Study n=17
An empirical pilot with India-based founders and senior operators. Six subscale findings. Every subscale above 46%.
Working papers, not yet in public domain
The Silent Default
Biological entropy accumulates silently in founders. The business ledger records nothing while the biological one depletes. By the time the signal reaches the accounts, the default has been in progress for years.
The Unaccounted War
Modern enterprise extracts from the personal physiology of the people running it. The cost is real, cumulative, and entirely absent from any accounting system currently in use.
The Biological Credit Protocol
A proposed framework for biological capital as a measurable and reportable asset class alongside financial and human capital in enterprise.

The accessible layer of the research

The published research is the formal record. The essays are where the thinking becomes readable. Each essay in the two Substack series corresponds to a layer of the BBD model or a paper in the BCI stack.

The website is the canonical home for all essays. The same content distributes to Substack, LinkedIn, and short-form video.
