Unbox was originated through Business Design Lab, Ajay's business design practice. It is now developed and delivered through Calm Studio, and operates as the core business design engine of the Clarity Residency.

The Unbox Biz Innovation Kit is a physical, IP-protected, gamified business design toolkit built by Ajay Parasrampuria through Business Design Lab. A business thinking game designed to help individuals and teams tackle real-world business challenges through structured strategy creation and assumption testing.

The physical kit contains two game boards, a 98-card Strategy Tactics deck across seven categories, a 39-card Experiment Methods deck, a Challenge Deck with customer personas and product cards, rewritable tiles, scoring cards, and facilitation materials. The three card decks are also available individually for targeted use.

The methodology draws on Design Thinking, the Business Model Canvas, Pretotyping, the Theory of Constraints, and the Diamond Model. The tactic categories, the assumption finder, the XYZ hypothesis structure, and the scoring models are Ajay's own origination from live founder engagements over several years.

What happens in a session

Three activities.
Two boards.
One full day.

A full Unbox session runs six to ten hours. Good teams finish in four and a half hours. The time saved goes into discussion, critical thinking, and iteration, not shortcuts in the process.

Each activity has its own board, its own card sets, and its own scoring model. Nothing is skipped. The output of each activity feeds the next one directly.

The challenge you walk in with is almost never the challenge you walk out with. That reframing is the most valuable thing the process produces.

Business Context and Opportunity Identification

Product-customer fit, customer persona, value proposition, business challenge framing. The challenge you bring is interrogated before any strategy is attempted. Duration: 2 to 3 hours.

Strategy and Markets

98 innovation tactics across 7 categories. Select the right fit tactics for each element of the business model. Build the Secret Sauce. Frame the strategy as a statement. Score it against Strategic Direction, Competitive Differentiation, and Defensibility. Duration: 2 to 3 hours.

Assumptions and Experiment Design + Pitch

Identify assumptions across the business model. Select the most critical one. Form the XYZ Hypothesis. Choose an experiment method from 39 options. Frame the experiment pitch. Score it. Then defend it to a jury of collaborators, customers, and possible investors. Duration: 2 to 4 hours.

A corporate team brings a real strategic challenge. Unbox begins with the client opening their context. The session moves through challenge framing, tactic mapping, and experiment design. What the team leaves with is not a report someone else wrote. It is a roadmap they built.

strategy and execution.

The Biological Business Design model is a causal chain. Biology is at the top. Decisions follow from biological state. Strategy is built on those decisions. Execution runs on strategy. Outcomes follow from everything upstream.

Most business tools intervene at Steps 3, 4, and 5. They work on the symptoms. Unbox operates at the same layers but with a different discipline: the challenge framing is rigorous, the strategy is tested before it is executed, and the experiment is designed before it is run. When biological data is available, it informs the session directly. Decision quality and strategic clarity are read through both lenses together.

01 Biology The biological state of the person making every decision. Recovery capacity, coherence, load, entropy. The upstream condition that shapes everything below it in the chain.
02 Decisions Quality determined entirely by the biological state above. Which decisions are being made clearly, which are being avoided, which are being distorted by load rather than logic.
03 Strategy Business context, opportunity identification, customer and market fit, challenge framing, innovation tactics, strategy design and scoring. Three activities, two boards.
04 Execution Assumption identification, critical assumption selection, XYZ hypothesis formation, experiment design, experiment pitch. Scored and ready to defend.
05 Outcomes A strategy that has been tested before being run. An experiment that has been designed before being deployed. Evidence, not just clarity.

Steps 03 and 04 are the Unbox domain. Steps 01 and 02 inform the session when biological data is present.

A single founder, a real challenge, one session. Available in-residence at Calm Studio, Dehradun, as part of the Clarity Residency, or as a standalone online session via Miro. The complete Unbox process, the full toolkit, facilitated by Ajay. The Rx++ report is produced together and belongs entirely to the founder.

Open Workshop

Full-Day Innovation Session

A structured full-day experience covering all three activities. 4 to 20 participants. Each team works on a real challenge. Every team leaves with a scored strategy, a designed experiment, and an Rx++ report. Designed for accelerators, cohorts, and founder communities. The open workshop brings founders from different ventures into a shared session. Each works on their own challenge. The methodology creates a productive tension: hearing other people frame their challenges sharpens the discipline of framing your own.

The digital application

The board game
becomes an
application.

Unbox began as a physical board game. The digital application is its continuation, not its replacement. Built as a Claude-powered web application that runs the full Unbox process end to end: intake, AI-assisted tactic surfacing, experiment design, and Rx++ report generation.

The app is being built as a record and extension of the methodology. It will be used in-residence with Clarity Residency founders and made available for standalone sessions when ready.

Unbox under the
Biological Capital
Initiative.

The Unbox methodology is being documented as a working paper under the Biological Capital Initiative, the research project that publishes the theoretical, clinical, and economic case for biological capital as a measurable asset class. The paper will establish Unbox's origination, architecture, intellectual heritage, and integration with the biological data layer.
